US down premarket with inflation in focus

Stock indexes in the United States started the week with losses in the premarket on Monday. Investors are anxiously waiting for the inflation figures for March as analysts warn the figure could tick up compared to February's 3.2%. Fed officials have already indicated that rate cuts could not be in the pipeline for a while yet, with some even cautioning that further rises could be warranted if disinflation stalls.

The Dow Jones declined by 0.19% at 4:26 am ET, the Nasdaq 100 fell by 0.18%, and the S&P 500 dropped 0.23% at the same time.

The euro traded 0.09% lower against the dollar, going for 1.08291 at 4:27 am ET.
