Durable goods orders in the United States increased by 1% or $2.8 billion in October, landing at $277.4 billion, a report published by the United States Census Bureau on Wednesday showed.
Transportation equipment led the upward trend, rising 2.1% or $2 billion in comparison to the previous month, coming in at $97.8 billion. Excluding transportation, new orders were up by 0.5%.
In addition, shipments of manufactured durable goods improved by $1.1 billion or 0.4% to stand at $275.4 billion. Unfilled orders for manufactured durable goods edged up by 0.6% or $7 billion to $1.14 trillion, while inventories expanded by 0.2% or $900 million to $489.5 billion.
