The United States embassy resumed its work on Wednesday, following a three-month closure due to the Russian military operation in the country, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed.
"As we take this momentous step, we have put forward additional measures to increase the safety of our colleagues who are returning to Kiev and have enhanced our security measures and protocols," Blinked noted in a statement. He also reiterated Washington's commitment to the people and government of Ukraine as US envoys look forward to continuing work in the embassy.
In February, the US State Department decided to remove its diplomats from the Kiev embassy and suspend consular services in the city. Earlier, Washington has revealed plans to reopen the embassy in Ukraine's capital by the end of May.
