The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) within the United States Department of the Treasury said on Tuesday it discovered that seven Venezuelan vessels have delivered oil to Cuba. Six of those vessels belong to state-run oil company Petroleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PdVSA), and one belongs to Caroil Transport Marine Ltd, based in Havana.
The Treasury claimed that the names of the vessels have been changed in order to circumvent Washington's sanctions on Venezuelan oil.
Treasury Deputy Secretary Justin Muzinich said: "Cuba and the former Maduro regime continue trying to circumvent sanctions by changing the names of vessels and facilitating the movement of oil from Venezuela to Cuba."
