The number of seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims in the United States declined by 16,000 to 230,000 in the week ending April 22, beating expectations, the Department of Labor stated in a report released on Thursday. The 4-week moving average went down by 4,000 from the previous week's revised average to stand at 236,000.
The insured unemployment rate came in at 1.3% for the week ending April 15, unchanged from the previous seven-day period's unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment for the same timeframe dropped by 3,000 to 1,858,000. The 4-week moving average stood at 1,836,500, growing by 10,250 compared to he previous week's revised average.
