The number of seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims in the United States fell by 17,000 to 222,000 in the week ending July 6, the Department of Labor said in its report published on Thursday. The 4-week moving average decreased by 5,250 from the previous week's revised average to stand at 233,500.
Meanwhile, the insured unemployment rate came in at 1.2% in the week ending June 29, landing unchanged in comparison to the previous week, as the insured unemployment number amounted to 1,852,000, down 4,000 from the previous week's revised figures. The 4-week moving average was 1,840,250, jumping by 9,750 compared to the week prior.
