The number of seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims in the United States increased by 27,000 to 229,000 in the week ending June 4, the Department of Labor showed in its report published on Thursday. The 4-week moving average went up by 8,000 from the previous week's revised average to come in at 215,000.
The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate for the week ending May 28 stood at 0.9%, the same level as the week before. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment remained the same, standing at 1,306,000. The 4-week moving average decreased by 9,000 from the previous week's revised average to 1,317,500, its lowest level since January 10, 1970.
