Major United States stock exchanges traded mixed on Thursday as a new batch of financial reports arrived. Both Abbott and Blackstone marked a decline in their diluted earnings per share in the second trimester. Now, investors will be looking at Netflix, with analysts expecting solid numbers. In data, US jobless claims grew by 20,000 to 243,000.
The Dow Jones declined 0.34% at the opening bell, with McDonald's down 0.98% at 9:31 am ET. Not long after, however, the index reversed course, going up and hitting a fresh high. The Nasdaq 100 started the session trading 0.69% higher, as Cintas surged 5.04% at 9:32 am ET. The S&P 500 increased 0.28% at 9:30 am ET, with D R Horton Inc jumping 5.66% at 9:32 am ET.
At 9:29 am ET, the euro traded 0.22% below the dollar, going for 1.09161.
