US okays potential $440M sale of TOW missiles to Saudi Arabia

United States Department of State greenlighted on Thursday a potential sale of TOW 2A and TOW 2B "tube-launched, optically-tracked, wireless-guided, radio frequency missiles for an approximate cost of $440 million, the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency said in a press release.

The agency noted that Saudi Arabia requested to acquire 507 TOW 2A and 507 TOW 2B missiles, as well as all related elements of logistics and support and program support, adding that the main contractor will be RTX Corporation.

"This proposed sale will support the foreign policy goals and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a partner country that is a force for political stability and economic progress in the Gulf Region," the agency pointed out.
