Major stock market indexes in the United States opened lower on Wednesday as President Donald Trump's tariffs, particularly those on China, continued to impact investors' confidence. Furthermore, the US posted a decline in mortgage applications and industrial production.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased by 0.35% or 142 points as Nvidia Corporation sank by 6.39% at 9:31 am ET. The Nasdaq 100 declined by 1.82% or 341 points. The S&P 500 went down by 0.96%. Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (ADM) was the worst performer on the latter two indexes, plunging by 7.08%.
The euro rose by 0.76% against the dollar at 9:28 am ET to sell for $1.13653.
