United States President Donald Trump vowed on Thursday to introduce stricter standards for air traffic controllers, insisting it is necessary to have the "highest possible bar" to ensure aviation safety.
Speaking after the fatal crash of an American Airlines plane with a helicopter, Trump slammed the administration of his predecessor, Joe Biden, for calling for more diversity and inclusion in hiring air traffic controllers, claiming that such initiatives called for people with "severe disabilities" to be hired. "I don't think so," he said.
The US president asserted that air traffic controllers have to be "naturally talented geniuses" and that "regular people" are not able to do it.
