White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announced that United States President Joe Biden is launching the first US strategy to counter Islamophobia. The strategy will be developed in a joint effort led by the Domestic Policy Council and the National Security Council with the participation of community leaders, advocates, and members of Congress.
"For too long, Muslims in America, and those perceived to be Muslim, such as Arabs and Sikhs, have endured a disproportionate number of hate-fueled attacks and other discriminatory incidents," Jean-Pierre said in a statement. The strategy comes amid increased Islamophobic attacks in the country since the start of the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
