The United States has called on the European Union to postpone the introduction of the digital tax plan, Agence France-Presse reported on Wednesday, citing a document it reviewed.
The implementation of the plan would endanger the negotiations on the global corporate tax, and "threaten the work being undertaken via the OECD/G20 process," the document warned.
The EU seeks to change the taxation rules for highly digitalized multinational companies, bringing the effective tax rate closer to that of traditional businesses.
