United States Chargee d'affaires to the United Nations Dorothy Shea (pictured left) claimed on Tuesday that the United Nations (UN) Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) is "exaggerating" the consequences of Israel's decision to ban the organization from its territory.

At a UN Security Council (UNSC) meeting, Shea voiced Washington's support for Israel's move. The Middle Eastern country has lately been accusing the agency of aiding Hamas's actions against it.

Previously, at the same meeting, UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini described the decision as "disastrous" for the Palestinian civilian population.
