Telegram Messenger CEO Pavel Durov was detained on Saturday at the Le Bourget Airport outside of Paris, according to French media. French authorities issued a warrant for the billionaire's arrest due to his involvement in Telegram's alleged facilitation of illegal activities through lack of moderation.

Durov was arrested upon landing at the airport in a private plane. He reportedly previously avoided French and other European airports after the warrant was issued and it is currently unclear why his plane landed in Paris. He is likely to face pre-trial detention as the investigation into Telegram continues, according to TF1, a French television network.
