Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko (pictured) announced on Friday that her country has received a new draft proposal for a deal on rare earths and minerals penned by the United States.
Speaking before the Verkhovna Rada, Svyrydenko stated that the government's legal team is studying the document to come up with a consensual response. She said that the parliament will be consulted if necessary but noted that "any public discussions" at the moment would "only harm the negotiations and prevent us from conducting a constructive discussion with our American partners."
The announcement came amid the negotiations between the US and Ukraine about the content of the deal, envisioned as the latter's payout of the military assistance received from the former amid Russia's military operation, and preconditions to sign it. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently accused the US of making the talks difficult by constantly modifying the agreement's terms.
