Ukrainian Prosecutor General's office has asked a court to arrest former President Petro Poroshenko over allegations of high treason and "facilitating the activities" of terrorist organizations, Iryna Gerashenko, a lawmaker from his party, said on Friday.
"Our political team views the recent actions (of the presidential office) and its fully controlled security forces as political repression against the opposition and its leader, selective justice, intimidation and pressure," Gerashenko stated in a Facebook post.
Earlier this week, the state investigative bureau accused Poroshenko of financing Russia-backed separatist forces in Ukraine. The ex-president dismissed the allegations, saying accusing the head of state of such things is "crossing of red lines."
