European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen met on Tuesday with United States Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg during his visit to the European Union and Ukraine. Von der Leyen stressed the EU's military assistance, worth $52 billion, matches that of the US, adding that the union "stands ready to do even more."
Von der Leyen also reaffirmed the EU will scale up its defense production and spending, "reinforcing both European and Ukrainian military capabilities." She reiterated the EU's willingness to work with the United States on ending the war with Russia but noted the resolution must "respect Ukraine's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, backed by strong security guarantees."
