Volkswagen AG's workers in Tennessee voted to join the United Auto Workers (UAW), "in a historic victory" for the latter.
"Volkswagen workers in Chattanooga are the first Southern autoworkers outside of the Big Three to win their union," UAW said in a press release. According to official results, out of 3,620 workers who took part in the voting, 73% expressed their will to join the UAW.
The carmaker itself also confirmed the news.
