Vance warns Europe on borders and 'shared values'

United States Vice President JD Vance warned on Thursday that the US-Europe alliance must be based on shared values, not political convenience. Reflecting on his address at the Munich Security Conference during a fiery speech at CPAC 2025, he noted that some European leaders pushed back against his message.

Vance criticized Western leaders for allowing "millions and millions of unvetted immigrants" into their countries, calling it the greatest threat to both Europe and the US. "We can't rebuild Western civilization this way," he said. He also accused the Biden administration of leading Europe down a dangerous path by restricting free speech and weakening national borders.

He pointed out that Germany's defense is heavily subsidized by America but insisted that alliances must be rooted in "true values."
