A Venezuelan Special Action Forces (FAES) police unit has entered the apartment building where the country's opposition leader Juan Guaido (pictured) lives, in an attempt to detain him, Guaido's spouse Fabiana Rosales stated on Monday.
The policemen enter the building and have surrounded Guaido's vehicle, Rosales explained in a tweet. The United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union recognize Guaido as Interim President of Venezuela, as opposed to Nicolas Maduro.
Guaido addressed the media soon afterwards, explaining that he wasn't arrested, but intercepted by an "unidentified armed group." He added that his aide Freddy Guevara has been apprehended by the police.
