Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil called for the end of international sanctions on his country at the Ibero-American Summit. He said Venezuela asked that "unanimous condemnation" of the punitive measures be included in the summit statement.
Gil said his government also delivered a message to the European Union through partners Spain and Portugal requesting a "definitive cessation and repeal of any unilateral coercive measures against the Venezuelan people." Earlier this year, the United States said pressure on Venezuela should be maintained.
