Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro is planning to visit Moscow this year, the country's ambassador to Russia, Jesus Rafael Salazar Velazquez, said on Thursday.
"Last year, this visit was indeed planned, but in the end, Mr. Maduro could not come. It [the visit] is scheduled for this year. The parties are now discussing when there may be an opportune moment for President Putin to receive President Maduro," Salazar Velazquez told reporters.
The news comes as the two countries have increased their oil cooperation in recent years.
