Europe opens mostly lower amid earnings, data

Major stock market indexes in Europe opened mostly lower on Wednesday as investors assessed the latest earnings results posted by Banco Santander S.A., Credit Agricole S.A., GSK PLC, and TotalEnergies SE, and awaited the reports on services and manufacturing in Germany, Britain, and the Eurozone, producer prices in the latter bloc, and France's industrial output.

The DAX slid by 0.42% as Infineon Technologies AG lost 0.97% at 9:01 am CET. The CAC 40 declined by 0.23%, with Renault SA going down by 1.73% at 9:02 am CET. The Euro Stoxx 50 dropped by 0.38% as Prosus NV dipped by 1.59% at 9:02 am CET. Meanwhile, the FTSE 100 stood flat.

The euro rose by 0.16% against the dollar at 8:58 am CET to sell for $1.04019, while the pound sterling stood flat against the United States currency to change hands for $1.24999.
