WH 'looking into' reported seizure of AP equipment in Israel

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Tuesday that United States President Joe Biden's administration is "looking into" the alleged seizure of the Associated Press's (AP) equipment in Israel.

Speaking to reporters during an Air Force One flight to New Hampshire, Jean-Pierre described the reports as "concerning." She insisted that the White House stands "firm in our belief" in free journalism.

The White House's reaction came after the AP said its equipment in Israel was taken away and the live broadcast of the conflict between that country and Hamas in Gaza shut down. The agency described what happened as an "abusive use by the Israeli government of the country's new foreign broadcasters law."
