White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Wednesday that US President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart agreed on "a partial ceasefire against" energy infrastructure.
The press secretary noted that both leaders "reviewed the situation in Kursk and agreed to share information closely between their defense staffs." Additionally, she revealed that Zelensky asked for additional military aid, especially defense systems, and Trump pledged "to work with him to find what was available, particularly in Europe." Furthermore, she noted that US and Ukrainian technical teams will meet in Saudi Arabia soon to discuss the possibility of "broadening the ceasefire to the Black Sea on the way to a full ceasefire."
Leavitt added that Washington "moved beyond" the previously negotiated US-Ukraine mineral deals and is focused on securing a peace deal. She also revealed that the two leaders talked about Ukraine's nuclear power plants, with Trump emphasizing that "American ownership of those plants would be the best protection for that infrastructure and support for Ukrainian energy infrastructure."
