White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Wednesday that it is"unacceptable" for the United States that Chinese companies are "helping" Russian President Vladimir Putin wage war in Ukraine.

Asked about the upcoming meeting between Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, Jean-Pierre insisted the White House does not comment on other countries' bilateral relations but stressed that if China "purports to want good relations with Europe and other countries, it cannot continue to fuel the biggest threat to European security right now."

Putin is set to travel to China for a state visit, which will take place on Thursday and Friday.
