United States National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan stressed on Monday that "we are now at a pivotal point in negotiations for a hostage and ceasefire deal in Gaza."
During a press conference, Sullivan detailed that outgoing US President Joe Biden had spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday and Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, today, about the issue. He also noted that the Biden administration is "very closely coordinated" with the Trump administration around trying to close the ceasefire agreement.
"We are close to a deal and it can get done this week. I'm not making a promise or a prediction, but it is there for taking and we are going to work to make it happen," Sullivan underscored.
