Wall Street closes mostly lower after a volatile trading day

Major US stock markets closed Thursday mostly lower after a volatile trading day. The session was also marked by the publication of economic data on gross domestic product and manufactured durable goods.

Moreover, OpenAI said before the close that it is testing a search engine called SearchGPT, after which Alphabet shares and some other tech companies plummeted.

The Dow Jones gained 0.20% at the close, with IBM rising 4.36%. The Nasdaq 100 fell 1.06%, and Lululemon Athletica led the losses, decreasing by 9.10%. Finally, the S&P 500 declined by 0.51%, as Edwards Lifesciences dropped by 31.33%.

The euro was down by 0.06% against the dollar at 9:28 am ET, selling for $1.08460.
