Wall Street higher at open after GDP data, Fed

Major stock equities in the United States traded higher at the opening bell on Thursday with investors digesting the latest US GDP numbers, which showed that economic growth in the last quarter of 2024 rose by 2.3%, missing estimates. Additionally, markets reacted to the Federal Reserve's latest decision to keep the interest rate unchanged.

The Dow Jones rose 0.06% and the S&P 500 went up 0.36%, with International Business Machines Corp. surging 9.16% on both indexes. The Nasdaq 100 gained 0.49% after Broadcom Inc. gained 5.17%.

Meanwhile, the euro gained 0.22% against the dollar, exchanging for $1.04342 at 9:28 am ET.
