Wall Street opens higher, Dow jumps 260 points

Stock exchanges in New York opened higher on Thursday, with Levi Strauss & Co. moving higher on Wall Street after reporting better-than-expected earnings for the first quarter of fiscal 2024.

Microsoft Corporation also announced an eight-year partnership agreement with Cloud Software Group Inc., further bolstering the positive sentiment and joining the tech stock rally.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 0.69% or 266 points. 3M Company was its best performer after climbing 2.44%. The Nasdaq 100 climbed 0.98% as Marvell Technology Inc. soared 4.42%. The S&P 500 rose 0.79% with Conagra Brands Inc. jumping 5.78%.

The euro was up 0.31% compared to the dollar, selling at 1.08690 at 9:27 am ET.
