Stock exchanges on Wall Street opened higher on Thursday after data showed that jobless claims in the United States went down by 11,000 to 239,000 in the week ending August 12, seemingly demonstrating the labor market's resiliency in the face of tight monetary policy.
Investors also digested the latest financial results by Walmart and Cisco.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.15% and the Nasdaq 100 gained 0.45% with as Cisco Systems Inc. jumping 4.97%. The S&P 500 rose 0.30% as Moderna Inc. climbed 3.68%. The euro added 0.30% against the dollar, selling at 1.09127 at 9:26 am ET.
