United States President Donald Trump's National Security Adviser Mike Waltz told NBC News in an interview on Sunday that he doesn't believe the current head of state has "any plans to invade Canada."

"What you're seeing is a reassertion of American leadership in the Western Hemisphere, from the Arctic all the way down to the Panama Canal ... America has avoided our own hemisphere, where we have the energy, the food and the critical minerals, for way too long," he commented. He further said that many Canadians have been disappointed with the liberal governance.

When questioned about Trump's alleged call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Waltz refused to answer whether the conversation happened, saying that he doesn't want to go into details. Regarding USAID, he mentioned that the organization needs to realign with the current foreign policy vision, insisting that foreign aid freeze doesn't mean giving more power to China and Russia.
