Wang Yi meets Blinken, warns 'negative factors building'

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi warned on Friday that even though the relationship between China and the United States has stabilized, "negative factors are building," Global Times reported.

He met in Beijing with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who stressed that the two countries must "avoid miscalculations," while also expressing his hope that progress can be achieved on agreements regarding artificial intelligence (AI) risks, military ties and fentanyl. Wang noted that a conflict between the US and China would be a "lose-lose situation," while also asking the US "not to interfere" in China's internal affairs.

"Whether both sides will lead in international cooperation to address global issues for mutual and multilateral gains, or oppose and confront each other, even to the point of conflict, leading to losses for all, is being closely watched by the international community," Wang told Blinken.
