Xi wants China to 'break new ground' in arms development - report

Chinese President Xi Jinping wants the country to "break new ground" and make further progress in weapons development, according to a report by Xinhua published on Tuesday.

According to the report, Xi and Beijing's Central Military Commission Vice Chairman Zhang Youxia stated during a conference that they want an "all-out" effort aimed at developing a "world-class" military.

Earlier this month, China was accused by the United States of performing two hypersonic weapons tests during the summer.
