United States Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stated on Thursday, speaking at the Atlantic Festival 2022, that inflation is causing "a great sense of economic insecurity and we don't want it to become endemic."
Despite this, Yellen asserted that she believes the Federal Reserve is capable of addressing inflation "while maintaining a strong labor market." She underlined that the US currently has "one of the tightest" job markets it has had in history.
Nevertheless, she emphasized that despite this, the 2% inflation target is probably not going to be reached in 2023. However, Yellen still expects to see inflation cooling down next year.
