Former British Chancellor of the Exchequer Nadhim Zahawi was removed as chairman of the Conservative Party over breaching the ministerial code, United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced.
The former chancellor was pressured to resign in recent days after it became known that he agreed to pay millions to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) as part of a settlement with the tax department.
Concerns about Zahawi's finances persisted even after he attempted to clear things up by stating that the HMRC concluded the error with his taxes was "careless and not deliberate."
