The Russian Foreign Ministry's spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Sunday replied to French President Emmanuel Macron's remarks on Paris' stance on Russia, accusing him of leading duplicitous politics.
Answering Macron's statement given to the paper Le Journal du Dimanche that France "never has and never will seek to crush Russia," Zakharova warned the president to remember that "France did not begin with Macron, and the remains of Napoleon, revered at the state level, rest in the center of Paris," calling on both countries to draw their conclusions.
She called Macron "priceless," pointing out that France is a NATO member and has supported its decisions against Moscow, including arms deliveries. Napoleon Bonaparte launched an unsuccessful invasion of Russia in 1812, losing half of his men in six weeks due to severe weather conditions.
