Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned Thursday Russia's use of cluster munitions in a recent overnight strike targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure. In a message posted on Telegram, Zelensky described the attack as a "vile escalation" of Russia's tactics.
The assault involved approximately 100 drones and 90 missiles, with Kalibr strikes recorded in several regions, specifically targeting civilian infrastructure, according to Zelensky in Telegram. Also, he emphasized that the use of cluster munitions complicates rescue efforts, making it harder for emergency and energy workers to mitigate the damage.
In a recent attack, Russian forces claimed to have used such munitions at the Dnipro airfield. Meanwhile, cluster munitions are part also of a recent US-approved military aid package for Ukraine.
