Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared his belief that Moscow was able to affect the opinion of some members of the White House through disinformation, as part of a broader "pattern."
The leader told Time Magazine that United States officials "had begun taking Putin at his word," even when their own intelligence contradicted him. "I believe Russia has managed to influence some people on the White House team through information," Zelensky said, claiming this aimed to signal Washington that the Ukrainians do not want to end the war, and that "something should be done to force them.”
Zelensky referenced former United States President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, who claimed that thousands of Ukrainian troops in Kursk had been encircled by Russian forces. "That was a lie," he underscored.
