Private employment in the United States increased by 146,000 in November, according to the ADP National Employment Report published on Wednesday. The figure was slightly lower than analysts expected. The service sector added 140,000 positions, with good increasing only by 6,000. Small businesses lost 17,000 jobs in November, while medium-sized companies added 42,000 and large firms 120,000.
"While overall growth for the month was healthy, industry performance was mixed,” ADP Chief Economist Nela Richardson said. "Manufacturing was the weakest we've seen since spring. Financial services and leisure and hospitality were also soft."
Annual pay grew by 4.8% compared to November 2023 for those keeping their jobs, while it added 7.2% for people changing jobs.
