Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden slammed United States President Donald Trump after reports emerged he received intelligence briefing that Russia allegedly offered bounties to Afghan militants for killing American troops and didn't take any measures against Moscow.

"His entire presidency has been a gift to Putin, but this is beyond the pale," Biden said during a virtual town hall. "It’s betrayal of the most sacred duty we bear as a nation to protect and equip our troops when we send them into harm’s way," he added.

Earlier, the White House dismissed the New York Times report as "inaccurate" and insisted Trump was never briefed on the alleged bounties.
