United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Sunday that the ongoing war between Hamas and Israel in the Gaza Strip could escalate into a wider regional conflict.
"This is a moment of profound tension in the region," Blinken stated during a press briefing Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in Doha.
Additionally, the US official stressed that his country is committed to preventing the conflict from spreading to other parts of the Middle East. "And that is indeed a major focus in what is now my fourth visit to the region since October 7," he underlined.
