Blinken: US looking 'very carefully' at Israel's aid workers report

United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated on Friday that his government is "carefully" reviewing the latest investigation revealed by Israel on the death of the World Central Kitchen workers and what are steps taken by the Middle Eastern country to "achieve better deconfliction, better coordination so that aid workers are protected."

In comments before leaving Belgium, he stressed that Washington "will be discussing its conclusions with Israeli officials and with humanitarian organizations in the days to come," emphasizing that it is urgent secure conditions to avoid "that something like this can never happen again."

Earlier during the day, he reiterated that the US expects to see "an independent, thorough and fully publicized investigation ... and accountability," coming from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's administration.

Israel submits counter-offer to mediators in Gaza talks
Israel submitted a counter-proposal to mediators on Friday following consultations led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his office announced on Saturday. The counter-proposal was fully coordinated with the United States, although the details of it were not revealed as of yet. At the same time, AFP reported that Hamas agreed to a new truce proposal received from the mediators, marking a step in the ongoing efforts to reinstate a ceasefire in Gaza.
