Boeing Chief Executive Officer Dave Calhoun announced his decision to step down from his position by the end of 2024 on Monday as part of the company's management reshuffle amid the ongoing scrutiny of the aircraft giant's production practices and safety.
In the letter to his employees, Calhoun underlined that the Alaska Airline Flight 1282 accident was a "watershed moment for Boeing," stressing that the company must continue to respond to this accident with "complete transparency." "We also must inculcate a total commitment to safety and quality at every level of our company," he added."
In addition, Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Stan Deal will leave the company effective immediately, with Stephanie Pope named as his successor. Board Chairman Larry Kellner will also resign and leave the post at Boeing's annual meeting in May.
The company's stock was 2.31% higher during the premarket trade.
