United States President Joe Biden's pick for Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) William Burns has always understood the importance of the dialogue between Washington and Moscow, Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov remarked on Thursday.
Peskov went on to describe him as a "very balanced American" that "defended the interests of his country" but still knew how significant the relations between the US and Russia were. He also noted that Burns proved himself to be a "skillful diplomat" during the time he served as US Ambassador to Russia between 2005 and 2008.
Earlier this week, during his hearing before the Senate, Burns stated he would focus on prioritizing the impact of technology on the agency's operations and increasing its security efforts in relation to China.
