China has urged the United States on Wednesday to immediately halt the deployment of additional Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missiles to South Korea, according to a statement by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
"China holds a clear and consistent position on its opposition of the United States deploying the THAAD system in South Korea. China strongly urges the United States and South Korea halt the deployment of the THAAD system at once and remove related equipment," Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang (pictured) told reporters.
Earlier today, South Korean Yonhap reported that four additional THAAD launchers will be deployed to the village of Seongju on Thursday, in response to the latest threats by Pyongyang.
