China's ambassador to Australia, Xiao Qian (pictured), said that United States trade policies, including potential tariffs, will influence China and other nations.

Speaking at a press conference in Canberra, he said such measures could impact Australia-China relations. "US policy on trade with China, with other countries as well, will have an impact and that is an important element we have to consider," Xiao said.

He was responding to questions about US President-elect Donald Trump's plans for new tariffs, which include a 10% levy on Chinese imports and 25% on goods from Mexico and Canada.
