Japanese Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi said on Thursday that five Chinese ballistic missiles landed within Japan's exclusive economic zone (EEZ), with the government filing an official complaint to Chinese authorities.

Earlier today, China canceled a meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi after the G7 statement about Chinese military drills around Taiwan, which noted that there is "no justification" for them.

The Chinese started to conduct military exercises this morning after United States House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi's contentious visit to Taiwan, which led to an increase in tensions between China and the US.
