NetBlock, the so-called Internet Observatory that follows internet flow around the world, reported on Friday a disruption in communication channels in Gaza.
"Live network data show a collapse in connectivity in the #Gaza Strip with high impact to Paltel, amid reports of heavy bombardment," NetBlock wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, referring to Palestine Telecommunications Company (Paltel) as "the last remaining major operator to supply service as connectivity declines amid ongoing fighting with Israel."
The report came amid the continuing clashes between Israel's army and Hamas, with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warning that the situation in the Gaza Strip has reached the verge of a "total collapse."
